Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir, is as beautiful as it is politically unstable. Close to the line of control, a tenuously drawn border between India and Pakistan, this is one of the most fascinating of areas.

There are now quite a few houseboats, offering day and overnight trips on the backwaters in North Goa. This one was near Chapora.
