The beautiful Chania harbour is wonderful, and at any particular time of day the light produces a different result, creating a "different place". The atmosphere has a touch of Florence and Venice, combined with the culture and character of Cretan people and traditions.

La Fenice Opera House seems to burn down and be rebuilt quite often. Well named, rising from the ashes!

This monument is dedicated to the great Titian. He sits at the centre, crowned with a laurel-wreath, and behind him is a bas-relief carving of his painting, the 'Assumption of the Virgin', on the main Frari altar.

A very comfortable hotel on the Canal Foscari Palace is a few steps from the Ca' D'Oro water bus stop, a short walk from Rialto Bridge. The rooftop terrace offers a view across Venice.
